If you want to adjust this recipe and make it Chicken Alfredo, you can add grilled chicken or sautéed chicken. The secret to sautéed chicken is to let the skillet heat up with olive oil before you add the seasoned chicken pieces. Cook them for 4-5 minutes each side and do not move them! As hard as it may be, let them sit and get crispy and cooked through.
If you want to customize the sauce here are some tasty suggestions.
- Add in 2 tbsp of mushrooms
- Add diced tomatoes
- Add sliced basil
- Add 1/2 cup of frozen peas
- Add steamed broccoli
Our kids ask for this recipe ALL THE TIME. Seriously at least every week. They call it “pasta with white sauce”.
When it comes to pasta you can of course go with the traditional fettuccine noodles if you can find them. Some stores even have fresh gluten free pasta, Aldi (only in May) and Trader Joes. More often we have this sauce with penne or spaghetti gluten free noodles because they are easy to find.
Hope your family enjoys this as much as our!
Enjoy!
